Tennessee Coach Bruce Pearl had some insensitive comments today. Thoughts?

  1. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm;

    When I first listened to it, I wasn't quite sure what to think. But then I decided to go and read what happened and then read his apology. I'm not quite sure that its worth thinking too hard into. That's something our worlds good with, extremely good with actually. When I just read what he said, I thought well hey that doesn't sound like anything nice nor relevant to anything. Then, when I read the apology I almost sided with him. Now, I'm not sure if that's just because well he's TRYING to make us side with him..or if he really was just trying to get people fired up. My thoughts are kinda torn on this, but I'm thinkin i'm going more towards the fact that its not necessary to look too far into.

  2. Well, I thought it was funny...

    Then again, I found Caligula funny.

    Seriously, people need to get a fracking grip. I shudder at the thought that people can't make a clever joke anymore.

  3. I don't really think that this was a big deal. He realized he made a mistake and made his apoligy and his players have accepted it.

  4. His players didn't take offense to his joke. They knew it was a joke. But he handled it well by apoligizing to everyone. People shouldn't get worked up about this one.

  5. I don't have a clear answer to this one--and I also know what it's like to tell an ill-advised joke. I usually steer clear of race or class, but as we all know--humor is often about---race or class.

    Another thought---does it make a difference whether the speaker is white or black. As someone pointed out--does it make a difference that no one seems offended--or that he apologized?

  6. Who did he offend? The KKK? Oh no! The poor murderous hate group! What an awful man for insulting these terroristic, maniacal, hate-ridden, vile, benthic arses!
    Shame on you, sir, for being such a jerk.

    I think it was harmless jest.
    I can see maybe the denizens of the county he mentioned possibly saying "Hey, I am not a racist. But it is true, there are a hell of a lot of them here!"
    Really he didn't need to apologize. I don't think anyone important took any serious offense to his statement. Also, do that many KKK members watch college basketball?
