  1. 1. Uh, well let's see here... what was the best part...well I suppose you mean in the area of academics and not the random rambling moments of the class (those were fun sometimes). I guess I would have to say going over the court cases, and not just the silly ones. I'm not really sure why but I find those pretty interesting and discussing them I feel leads to a pretty productive class period. Sadly, I wish we had done more with them.
    2. I'm not sure if it's at all possible to still do this but I think that we should have had that class debate. Since we spend most of our class time arguing, we may as well have put it to good use. I also feel some things we should spend a little more time going over.. like that essay we all did terrible on.. can't really remember what it was about either...sorry.
    3. Well I believe we waste a good bit of class time and somedays I really don't mind, but others I get bored waiting ten mins. for sombody (Hoover) to show for class. Other than that I wish we could make the things we talk about a bit more interesting somehow (If I get an idea I will let you know or anybody could just add in), because we all must admit some of this stuff is extremely DULL AND DRY!!!

  2. 1. The part of the course I found most interesting was the current war. Military strategy and technology interests me. Going to Rutter's was a very fun aspect of this course as well :P. Taking notes off the smart board actually proved to be fast and effective; Hoover being one of the very few that does so.
    2. Rhea has a very good idea with the debates. We do argue a lot and it could be an effective way to research and present a topic. I think spending time arguing actually showed interest on the topics so I would not change that. One thing I would change is helping students to prepare for the AP test. Like going through an AP study guide as a class during the down time (which there is a lot of).
    3. This class was very generic. It was not really easy or really difficult. Sadly however I don’t remember much from last week on. The class should be a little more difficult so last minute cramming (which proves to be very poor for long term memory) is not possible.

  3. 1. The best part of this course would beeee... probably just the fact that before this class, I was so ignorant of anything related to politics. It never really interested me, so I never sought out any knowledge of it. In this class though, I learned tons of new stuff I never would have known, and it was taught in a way that was easy for me to understand. I had no idea how the court system worked, what a bureaucracy was or even what the current situation was with the war on terrorism. I'm really glad I had it first period, too, cause I was able to eat my pop-tarts every morning :)
I also really enjoyed the "field-trips" we went on. Even if it didn't really seem like I was taking them seriously, I was. Stuff like that is interesting, and I liked getting a first-hand view of the way Dover works.

    2. I think the only thing I would change is to not have everything so crammed together. I know that was out of our control, though, cause the AP test was earlier than the end of the semester. It was kinda tough learning everything so quickly and being tested on it right after. We got through it though... I also would have liked some more projects rather than just quiz after test after quiz.

    3. I think everyone's gonna say that we wasted a lot of class time getting distracted by random topics. I didn't really mind it though, like some other people did. We got down to business when we really needed to, so the random discussions didn't bother me much. This class wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I actually did learn a lot, and I liked the teaching style a lot more than some other teachers' I've had. Overall, I liked this class! And I'm excited for Yearbook next year :)

  4. First off YAY its our last blog....for government anyway.
    1. I really liked going on field trips that was fun. I also really liked how this whole last semister we do more fun, current event type things. I liked our vocab quizes a lot and blogs, easy points. Um.... idk what i liked talking about like they mentioned court cases are confusing, war is stupid, so yeah, i liked how we used the smart board to take notes rather than chalk board.
    2. I disagree with Rhea and Brent. I hated doing a debate when we did it before in whatever 7th or 8th grade. I like how we argue without being graded on it. Also Brents ap thing. If you read the book you should do fine on it, not just scan the book like he did. Not everyone takes the AP test so if someone wants review 5th period would be a good time to do that. I think that you prepared us for most of the test. So idk what i would change, i like the arueing, and all the down time.
    3. I agree with Rhea that most the stuff we learn is dull but i don't think there is anything you can do about that. The most intesting things are the scandals but even they get boring since its all the same. I really don't mind the down time, i can get other work done, I liked the class overall, i did well in in...unlike stupid pre-cal. I also agree with brent that i don't remember anything after the ap test it was all gone, so we'll see how the final goes. I thought the class was fun and had lots of interesting stories.

  5. 1.I really enjoyed the two field trips we took to the township and borough buildings. They talked about stuff I was interested in learning about, like the track.

    2. I would change the cramming of the actually chapters. Also, maybe like others said a debate would be cool.

    3. I had a good time for me hating governement. We had some good laughs and got the work done we needed too. The last month was hard becasue we had all the information covered because of the AP test, so the field trips were a good idea.

  6. 1. The best part of this course was definitely our discussions of every topic under the sun. Even the political discussions were fun sometimes. The mini field trips were also great too. I also enjoyed the vocab quizzes.
    2. I think the project at the end of the year was unnecessary so I would change that by getting rid of it. I also think it would be a good idea to make review packets or something for the final.
    3. I thought I was going to majorly dislike this course, but it wasn't too bad. This is one class I'll probably miss.

  7. 1. I'm gonna have to agree with hyde here and say the best part was actually learning stuff that i was completely oblivious to before. Also, even though i really dont like doing it, reading those newspaper articles and examining them served helpful for me knowning whats actually going on outside of dover.

    2. I also think we should have a class debate, definitely not as formal as mr neil's classes though. i think this kind of interactive research and presentation would be fun and interesting, and we might actually learn something.

    3. Overall, i liked this course. It was a happy medium in my difficulty scale for the day, it wasnt as easy as gym, and not as hard as english, so it was a nice middle ground. i also do enjoy your stories hoover, theyre pretty entertaining (most of the time).

  8. Broski you know this is my type of blog! So listen favorite part of class has got to be the field trips. Who doesnt want an ice cold slushie on a hot summer day. Also i really liked the class arguments. Sometimes i wish you would have just let me talk more man because i have good ideas in my ramblings you just have to hear me out. And i know i may swear occasionly but who doesnt!? My 70 year old grandmother swears all the time and just adds flavor to the convo. Also it was just great chance that you put me, levi, and hyde all together when you didnt even know us. That was a fun part of class. I enjoyed your avid use of the proxima though. It really made me feel like i was in a classroom of the future. And i dont care what you say man we have had our bonding moments and i know you'll never admit but i think we have a lot more in common than you share but its whatevs. Things i'd like to change.... probably the essaypalooza summer assignment... and slander i got from the peanut gallery a.k.a. the left side of the room. But i really appreciated the lack of home work. School is ment to stay in school and i really like it when teachers stick to that mentality, i mean we're already in there 7 hours a day why do we then have to take it home and add more stress in our busy teenage lives. Btw idk if you saw the doodle on the board but i was hoping you would lol and agree.
